The Church of God entered West Africa through their Missionary efforts on October 16, 1951 through Rex N. Green in Nigeria. However, it was only during the 1960s that the Church of God made a major thrust into West Africa. In these early years the Church, in addition to Nigeria, was established in Ghana and Liberia. It is from Angola and from Anglophone West Africa that CoG World missions launched out to reach the rest of the continent.
Alex Abiola
Superintendent
Alex and Leah Abiola, Career Missionaries with Church of God World Missions since 2003, have served in Republic of Ireland as missionaries and are now working in West Africa as the Overseer of Nigeria and Superintendent of the Anglophone countries of West Africa. They are working to educate the leaders in servant leaders attitude. They seek to bring unity in the tribal diverse areas in Nigeria and create good working relationships with the love of God in the body of Christ, the Church.
Some of the areas of concerns are ministerial training, evangelism, medical missions, water wells and more. With the help of donors we provide wells, minister training, medical missions etc.
